Beverages can be defined as a potable drinks which not only satisfy the needs of thirst and fluid loss but also fulfills the physiological and psychological functions in the form of stimulation,nourishment and the refreshment. We consume varieties of beverages in our daily life of which some may contain alcohol or may not contain alcohol. Hence basically beverages can be classified into two categories:
Alcoholic beverages: These are the beverages which contains alcohol and are intoxicating in nature. Any alcoholic beverage contains one to 75% of alcohol by volume. Some of the world best and mostly consumed alcohol are listed below along with thier service tips.
Beer: The very popular and best considered this drink consist of very less alcohol of 2 to 8% by volume.Over 100 of styles of beer are available today, each style derives its unique characteristics. Beer is better when it is served chilled i.e. 8oC-10oC with a fine froth or head on it. Beer mugs are used for all the types of beer.
Whisky: Whisky is the alcoholic beverage with a very strong alcohol contained about 40-50% by volume. Nowadays there are approximately 200 brands of whiskies available with the varying taste, flavor and body from distiller to distiller. Whisky is best preferred with ice commonly known as "whisky on the rock". If served neat or along with ice or soda, it is served on the rock glass or old fashioned glass or roly poly glass. If mixed with cola or other mix it is served in high ball glass along with ice.
Brandy: Brandy is an alcoholic beverage normally produced by the distillation of grape wine which contains alcohol of 40 to 45%. Brandy is best preferred with hot water after meal or as a night cap. It is usually served in brandy ballons or snifter.
Gin: Gin is compound liquor,distilled from grains and deriving its pre-dominant flavor principally from an infusion of juniper berries. Alcoholic strength may exceed from 40 to 45% by volume. A gin and tonic is usually offered as a long drinks with a slice of lemon and plenty of ice. Gin is also the main foundation for different cocktails.
Rum: Rum is a very strong alcoholic beverage containing alcohol of 40 to 75% by volume. Aromatic dark rum cab be best served neat over ice or water in on the rock glass. When mixed with soft drinks or cola, it should be served in highball glasses.
Vodka: Vodka is known traditionally as the Russian national drink. It contains alcohol of 50% by volume. Vodka is best served chilled with ice in On the rock glass. If served neat, it is served in liqueur or shot glass or if mixed with soda or sparkling water, it is served in Hi-ball glass. Vodka is also best served along with a orange juice or tomato juice as mixed drinks.

Traditionally Tequila is drunk neat, preceded by a bite into a lick of lemon with a hint of salt on the fist of left hand. Tequila is served in a " Tequila Glass " ,Shooter-60ml, shot-30ml. Mexicans best prefer tequila to drink along with the mixture of tomato juice called Sangria.
Non Alcoholic Beverages: Non alcoholic beverages contains no alcohol. Instead these drinks are beneficial for our body and can be consumed at any time of the day or night. It basically stimulates the body give refreshment and hence provide nourishment.
